Bill G. Decker, 89, of Gahanna, Ohio passed away peacefully on December 28, 2017 at Three Creeks Senior Living. Bill was born September 25, 1928 in Connelly Springs, NC, the 14th of 16 children born to Max and Cora (Aikens) Decker and served in the Merchant Marines. Bill married the love of his life, Vanieta Boone, on November 30, 1952 and together they founded and ran Decker & Associates Inc. for over 25 years. He could build anything! At one time he held the record for the quickest built Bob Evans Restaurant as well as the most Bob Evans Restaurants built. He was an amazing entrepreneur…ethical, hardworking and dependable… as well as an incredible husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He had many passions in life, including raising Arabian horses, his Licking County farm, riding his tractor and his Bobcat, time spent in Arizona, North Carolina basketball, the Buckeyes and his beloved Boston Terrier, Dolly. Vanieta preceded Bill in death in August of 2010. He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Janelle Whiteman; grandson Andrew Whiteman and granddaughters Lexanna and Natali Whiteman along with their father, Scott Whiteman; sister Berlene Martin of Greensboro, NC; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Visitation will be 4-7pm Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPREL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, OH 43230 where services will be held at 10am Wednesday (family will welcome friends from 9-10am); Andrew Hoover, celebrant. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Midwest Boston Terrier Rescue, PO Box 297, Kent City, MI 49330 or online at [email protected] .
