Brian Frederick Griffin Obituary
Griffin Brian Frederick Griffin, 65, of Worthington, OH, passed away on April 30, 2017, in Maryland. He was preceded by his mother Gibson Griffin and is survived by his wife, Barbara Griffin; and sons, Spencer Griffin and Ross Griffin, both of Washington DC; his father, Vincent Griffin of Florida; and siblings, Randall Griffin of Maryland, Rick Griffin of British Columbia, James Griffin of Florida, and Lynda Bull of Arizona. A Memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 3, at North Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 1547 Franklin St., Lewis Center, OH. Donations may be made to the Safra Lodge at NIH in Bethesda, MD or to Friends of the Lower Olentangy Watershed. Brian was a writer, musician, linguist, environmentalist, swimmer, windsurfer, devoted husband and father, a man with a kind heart, wide interests, and an enthusiasm for life who will be missed. Born in Kitchener, Ontario, he spent much of his childhood in the US, Peru, England and Brazil, then attended Indiana University. He had a long advertising career in Chicago, St. Louis and Columbus as a writer-creative director, and later as a website editor with Scotts Miracle-Gro and JPMorgan Chase. He pursued his interest in Brazilian culture through participation in a Portuguese conversation group and as a student and teacher of capoeira. The group called him Avô, or Grandpa.
