Bruce E. Smith Obituary
Smith Bruce E. Smith, age 71, passed away unexpectedly on May 5, 2017. He was born July 18, 1945 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Edward and Sarah Smith. He is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Betty Smith; daughter, Amy Palmer; and grandson, Micah; sister, Robynn (Jon) Onyett with Lyndsey and Erik; stepchildren, Terri (Drew) Lawson with Sarah, Charlie and Meghan, David (Benita) Dodaro with Katie, Amanda and David (Tara), Steven Dodaro with son, Levi, and Richard (Charlene) Dodaro with Richelle (Frank) and Alyson; great-grandchildren, Vanessa, Alyssa and Allionna; sister-in-law, Ruth Miller and family; beloved schnauzer, Susie-Q. Bruce retired from BP after 30 years of faithful service. He was passionate about sports and especially enjoyed officiating at swim meets, following Northland High School athletics and cheering on the Steelers and the Penguins. He was very proud of working the poles, having recently been promoted to a judge status. He was an active member of Beth Messiah for over 40 years and will be remembered, amongst other things, for his love of grilling. Family will welcome friends 11 a.m.-12 noon Monday, May 8, 2017 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. Gahanna, OH 43230 with a service beginning at 12 noon. Interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Northland Athletic Boosters, 1919 Northcliff Dr. Columbus, OH 43229 in Bruce's memory.
