MacLeod C. Douglas "Doug" MacLeod, 83, of Strongsville, OH, formerly of Upper Arlington, OH and Hilliard, OH, passed away very suddenly at University Hospital in Cleveland, OH on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 with his wife and daughters at his side. Doug was born to the late Colin H. and Marion (nee Brown) MacLeod in White Plains, NY on June 5, 1934. He graduated from Ridgewood High School, Ridgewood, NJ in 1952 and earned a B.B.A. from Pace University, New York, NY in 1956. For 29 years, Doug worked for multiple divisions of Borden, Inc.; his final title being Vice President of Administration of Borden Chemical, Inc. Following Borden Chemical, Inc., Doug immediately went to work for The Westwater Company in Columbus, OH where he served as Treasurer for 15 years, retiring on June 21, 2014 at age 80. Doug married the love of his life Violet (nee Giannone) on October 29, 1966 in Whitestone, Queens, New York. The couple met while working for the same employer in New York City, and last fall celebrated their 50 years together with a cruise to the Panama Canal. Survivors include wife, Violet of Strongsville, OH; loving daughters, Nadine MacLeod (George) Valco of Hilliard, OH, Kirsten Meyers; only grandchild, Paige Meyers; and cat, Tristan; all of Strongsville, OH. Pre-deceased by Colin H. and Marion B. MacLeod and many, many cats. Doug was a loyal husband, father and grandfather who loved his family very much. His dedication to others will never be forgotten. The family is blessed to share many wonderful years with Doug including a delightful Father's Day. Doug loved to read The New York Times, complete crossword puzzles (always with a cat sitting on his lap) watch NBC Nightly News, drink his nightly martinis and spend time with his family. An avid cat lover, contributions in Doug's memory may be made to Capital Area Humane Society, 3015 Scioto Darby Executive Court, Hilliard, OH 43026 or Cat Welfare Association, 741 Wetmore Road, Columbus, OH 43214.
