Carol Ann (Rodgers) Fancelli Obituary
Fancelli (Rodgers) Carol Ann (Rodgers) Fancelli, age 77, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Mount Carmel St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville, Ohio in the presence of her devoted husband and surrounded in love by her daughters. She spent the last few weeks of her life giving comfort to her family in ways that were not explainable by medical science. We will forever appreciate this gift. Carol was born on June 2, 1940 in Columbus, Ohio to Leona (Morrison) Rodgers. Carol grew up in Columbus, Ohio and graduated from Rosary Catholic High School in 1958. After high school, she was a constant caregiver for her mother. She also began work for Metropolitan, when a customer introduced her to her soul mate. Carol married her loving and devoted husband, Jim in 1968 in Columbus, Ohio. They were happily married for 49 years. Carol was a dedicated wife and stay at home mother for many years raising her two daughters. She was a long time member of St. Anthony Parish where she volunteered and also worked at St. Anthony's Catholic School for many years as the school secretary. She was a wonderful mother, devoted to her girls and being able to work where they went to school was important to her. She had an easy way with all of the students and was everyone's "Mom in the office." She also enjoyed working along-side her husband at Panacea Products for many years. She is fondly remembered by all for her faith in God and for being generous, loving, kind, and loyal to those lucky enough to have known her. Although she suffered with health issues over the years, she never gave in to them and persevered for her family. Carol was happiest when spending time with her five grandchildren and at family gatherings. Everyone who knew her, knew how much she loved animals and in particular, her dog, Misty who was her constant companion in recent years. Carol recently discovered her artistic side and enjoyed coloring, leaving behind a tremendous gift of her art work for her family to cherish. Carol is preceded in death by her mother Leona Rodgers, brothers David (Lois), Ronald (Virginia) and sister Helen (Rush) Rushing, special mother-in-law Philomena Fancelli, special sisters-in-law Clara Fancelli and Doris Rodgers and brothers-in-law John Fancelli and Lou Fancelli. Carol is survived by her loving spouse, Jim of Columbus, Ohio; her daughters, Amy (Fancelli) Zalimas and Valerie (Brent) Robinson; grandchildren, James, Jacob, Luke, Ethan and Liam of Gahanna, Ohio; brother, William Rodgers; and sister, Roberta (Omer) Martinson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe (Jeanine) Fancelli, Frank (Dorothy) Fancelli, Rose Fancelli, Pauline (Jim) Rushia; and many special nieces, nephews, relative and many friends. The family would like to thank the nurses, techs, doctors and staff at St. Ann's Hospital, ICU and Palliative Care Unit, particularly Laura, Brittiany, Martina, Karen, Kelly, Dr. Grace, Rachel and many other we haven't named here, for your kindness and loving care for our entire family, for checking in, even when she was no longer your patient and for recognizing just how special she was. You are appreciated. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, June 30, 2017 at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road, Columbus, Ohio 43229. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 3, 2017 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1300 Urban Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43229. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to, St. Anthony's School, 1300 Urban Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43229. Visit Carol's guest book at www.schoedinger.com
