Charles William "Bill" Sibley

SIBLEY Charles William "Bill" Sibley, 75, Gallipolis, passed away unexpectedly at 10:20 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2008, in the Emergency Department at the Holzer Medical Center after becoming ill at his home. Born November 14, 1932, in Ohio Township of Gallia County, he was the son of the late Clarence L. and Goldie Marie Johnson Sibley. He retired after 37 years of service as storeroom supervisor from the Akzo Chemical Corporation, Gallipolis Ferry, WV plant. After his retirement he began working part-time with his daughter and son-in-law at the Cremeens Funeral Homes in Gallipolis and Racine. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict He was a Master Mason of Morning Dawn Lodge #7 of Free & Accepted Masons of Ohio, Aladdin Temple Shrine, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite mason, member of Pomeroy Chapter No. 80 of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Ohio where he served as a past High Priest, a member of the Bosworth Council No. 46 of the Grand Council of Royal & Select Masons of Ohio and the Ohio Valley Commandery No. 24 of Knights Templar at Middleport. He actively attended the First Presbyterian Church where he and his wife, Ina Belle, enjoyed working with the school lunch program during the school year. He and Ina Belle were members of the Minnows-To-Whales Investment Club and the Senior Citizens Travel Club, but especially Bill enjoyed being a member of the Soggy Bottom Iron Donkey's Four-wheeler Club. Surviving is his wife, Ina Belle Barcus Sibley, whom he married April 22, 1953, in Gallipolis; his daughter, Andrea (Jay) Cremeens; and his son, Mike (Linda) Sibley; his three granddaughters, Amanda Michelle (Chris Elkins) Sibley, Jennifer Lynne (Nathan) King and Jaymee Lynne Cremeens; and his great-grandson, Tanner Jay King, all of Gallipolis. Also surviving are his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lola Richards, Springfield, Va., Kathryn Costen, Gallipolis, Rebecca (Bruce) Unroe, Gallipolis, Ernestine Mooney, Gallipolis, Addie (Bill) Jewell, Columbus, OH, Donna (Willard) Keesee, St. Cloud, Florida, Ray Barcus, Gallipolis and Ralph (Cathy) Barcus, Gallipolis; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law Opal Halfhill and brothers-in-law Edgar Green, Kenneth Halfhill and Dick Richards. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2008, in the First Presbyterian Church, Gallipolis. Officiating will be Pastor Timothy Luoma. Interment will be in the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the CREMEENS FUNERAL CHAPEL. A Masonic funeral service will be conducted by Morning Dawn Lodge #7, F&AM, at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Military graveside service will be conducted by the Gallia County Veterans Funeral Detail Team. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill's memory to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 51 State Street, Gallipolis, OH 45631.
