Christie Moore Obituary
Moore, Christie 1951 - 2018
Christie Anne Moore, January 3, 1951 – January 6, 2018. Christie Moore will always be remembered by those who knew her as a shining star whose life was guided by service to others, devotion to faith and family, and creating light and joy where ever she went. Christie was born in Columbus, Ohio to Frieda (Heil) and Roger A Moore Sr. Christie graduated from Northland High School where she was in the school band and a majorette. She attended Franklin University, graduating in 1977. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church throughout her childhood. She made her home in Tallahassee, Florida beginning in 19 78 to be closer to her mother. She received her Master's degree in accounting in 1980 from Florida State University. She worked for Governor Lawton Chiles in the Governor's budget office. Later she became the Budget Director for the Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services until her retirement. Christie was president of the Tallahassee Krasnodar (Russia) Sister City Program in 1989 and made four trips to Russia. She was a remarkable ambassador of goodwill during these cross-cultural exchanges. For many years, Christie continued to send care packages to our sister city. Christie dedicated her retirement to various volunteer activities including 15 years of service to the AARP Tax Aid Program. She was an artist who spent hours taking classes at the Senior Center and served on their art council. In 2013, Christie was awarded the Vivian LeValle Art Volunteer of the Year award for her exceptional service to the Senior Center. Christie touched many lives, yet did so quietly without seeking attention for herself. She was a regular attendee of Grace Lutheran Church and was very active in multiple programs over the years. Christie served on their Board of Directors and was the church treasurer. She also helped with vacation Bible school, served on the Fellowship Committee, and participated in craft days. Christie designed and created two pieces of stained glass for the church narthex. Christie is survived by her mother; brother, Roger Moore Jr.; nieces, Tabitha and Roxie Moore; grandnephews, Raven and John Moore; and many wonderful cousins. A celebration of Christie's life will be held on Friday, January 26 at Grace Lutheran Church, 2919 Miccosukee Road. Family will begin receiving guests at 9:30 a.m. with the service beginning at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: National Jewish Health in Denver, CO or the Grace Lutheran Church Team, 2919 Miccosukee Road, Tallahassee, FL 32308. Please put "In Memory of Christie Moore" on your donation. National Jewish Health carries out research on the type of lung diseases like the one Christie had.
