Clarence Eugene Mingo Sr. Obituary
Mingo Clarence Eugene Mingo, Sr., age 71, went home to be with the Lord on June 21, 2017. He was born on May 15, 1946 in Mobile, AL. His early childhood was spent in Gees Bend, AL. Thereafter, he resided in Canton, OH for over 50 years until he relocated to Columbus, OH in 2007. Clarence was a 1963 graduate of Canton McKinley Sr. High School, where he was a champion wrestler. In recognition of his accomplishments, he was enshrined into the Stark County High School Wrestlers Hall of Fame in 2011. He attended Miami University in Oxford, OH. He was formerly employed by J&L Steel in Louisville, OH for 30 years before his retirement in 2004. Clarence is preceded in death by his father Peter C. Mingo, mother Laura E. (Pettway) Mingo, step-mother Jesse (Clifford) Mingo, sister Evelyn Wilcoxon and infant grandson Aaron Mingo. After 51 years of marriage, Clarence leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Ruth (Freeman) Mingo. He is also survived by three daughters, Robin (Marshall) Mingo-Miles of Canton, Stephanie (Jason) Mingo Miles of Westerville, OH, Rhyan (Gregory) Williams of Westerville; three sons, Tracy Freeman (Mingo) of Canton, Lance (Amy) Mingo of New Albany, OH and Clarence "Flu" (Angela) Mingo II of New Albany; and 11 grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Victor (Kris) Mingo of Kent, OH; and sister, Virginia "Diane" Mingo of Canton. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by many special extended family members, including paternal aunt, Marjorie Cooper of Las Vegas, NV; sister-in-law, Franscetta Hall of Canton; nephew, Vincent Thomas and niece, Monique Hall, both of Blacklick, OH. The family of Clarence Mingo Sr. would like to thank Dr. Christopher George and staff and the medical staff and volunteers at Kobacker House. Service will be held on Monday, June 26 at Peoples Baptist Church, 701 17th St. SE, Canton, OH 44707. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. with the funeral service at 1 p.m., with Pastors Lloyd David Kinlow II and Frank Carl officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
