Clifford David Aiken, Jr., 91, of Gahanna, formerly of Leetonia, died Friday, August 11, 2017 at his home. He was born May 12, 1926, in Salem, a son of the late Clifford and Anna Morton Aiken, Sr. Clifford was a 1944 graduate of Leetonia High School and a 1950 graduate of The Ohio State University. He served in the US Army and was a veteran of World War II. Clifford worked as an internal auditor with State Auto Insurance until retirement. He was involved with church boards, Boy Scouts of America leadership, Kiwanis, Gideons, the Ohio Legion, OSU alumni associations and the advisory council for Governor Rhodes. He also enjoyed golfing and gardening. He was preceded in death on October 12, 2004 by his wife, the former Helen Kovacik, whom he married, June 5, 1948. Clifford is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Aiken Leonard of Columbus and Dr. Karen (Stephen) Ball of Bourbonnais, IL; a son, Clifford David (Erin) Aiken, III of New Albany; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Elizabeth Ball and three brothers Warren, Charles and Robert Aiken. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 1, 2017 at the Mount Calvary Cemetery Chapel, Leetonia, with Pastor Dave Fannon officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery.
