Clinton J. Friedley, 88, died on January 6, 2019 in Worthington, Ohio. Born Nov. 29, 1928, in New Washington, Ohio, Crawford County, and came to Columbus in 1950. He was preceded in death by his parents Niles Clinton and Lydia Friedley, brothers Harold R. Friedley, Rolland Friedley, and Dr. Ellsworth "Putt" Friedley and an infant son John Austin. Survived by wife, Charlene B. Friedley of Columbus; two daughters, Carol Keplinger of Columbus, and Carlene Baumann of Westerville; four grandchildren, Robert and Jeffrey Keplinger and Michelle and Alex Baumann. Also two nieces, Blythe Friedley and Debbie Hickenlooper and three nephews, Scott, Keith and Todd McDougal. He and his wife spent many hours and days with their lovable grandchildren. He was a printer for the Columbus Dispatch until 1989.
He wrote two books: "I Feel Badly and I Enjoyed Myself: Do you talk like this?" and "101 Dumb Things We Write," and gave seminars and speeches to many law firms and associations. His third project was an Easy Spelling Tips Chart. Total sales were $12,000. In the 90s, he was a tour guide for AAA. He was president of the Worthington Writers Group for 23 years. He taught in the Creative Activities Program at The Ohio State University, and for 22 years in Upper Arlington's Lifelong Learning Program. He was on the faculty of the Professional Domestic Institute. He was given the Buckeye Central High School Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame Award in 2010. He was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church, and a former member of North Community Lutheran Church. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 1pm with a visitation one hour prior from 12-1PM at All Saints Church, 6770 N. High St., Worthington, OH 43085. Burial will follow at Kingwood Memorial Gardens, 8230 Columbus Pike, (US Rt. 23), Lewis Center, OH. 43035-9410. Arrangements entrusted to Schoedinger Worthington Chapel.
