Daniel Rodger Stricker Obituary
Stricker Dr. Daniel Rodger Stricker, died at home Tuesday, May 23, 2017. He was born April 15, 1935, and was a member of the Newark High School class of 1953. Dan attended Ohio University where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity, and graduated from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 1961. He served in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps aboard the USS Everglades (A-24) before establishing his practice in Newark. Dan was a member of W. D. Miller, Ohio, and American dental societies, Pierre Fauchard Academy, past president of the Ohio Society of Dentistry for Children, Central Christian Church, Newark Rotary Club, Elks Lodge 391, Moose Lodge #449, life member of American Legion Post 85, Navy League, Heath Masonic Lodge #771, Newark Maennerchor, OSU Presidents Club, and long-time member of the Newark City Board of Health. He enjoyed volunteering at the Midland Theatre as well as attending home Ohio State football games for over 50 years. Dan travelled extensively throughout the world but was always thrilled to return to his hometown of Newark to spend time with his friends and family. He will be remembered as the quiet guy with the bright bite smile and a true friend to all who knew him. He will be sadly missed by son, Timothy Stricker; and two daughters, Barcy Stricker Bergstrom of St. Paul, Minnesota and Amy (David) Stricker-Hume of Marine on St. Croix, Minnesota; grandchildren, Madeline and Rowan Hume; sister, Connie (David) Swick of Debary, Florida; dear friend, Susan Heckmann; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and many other friends too numerous to mention. Preceded in death on April 2, 2000, by his wife Sharon (Weakley) Stricker, whom he married on August 27, 1957, brother David Stricker, two infant sisters Carol and Barcy, and son-in-law Dan Bergstrom. Family and friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at the BRUCKER-KISHLER FUNERAL HOME, 985 N. 21st Street, in Newark. A private interment will occur at Cedar Hill Cemetery. A public Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Licking County Foundation, Daniel and Sharon Stricker Fund, P.O.
