1935 - 2019
David H. Hartigan, 83, born Nov. 5, 1935. Passed on January 11, 2019. Preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Jodi in 2003, and his parents Ruth and Bob Kunkel. Family was very important to Dave, and he was predeceased by Aunts, Uncles and many "older" cousins. Survived by: brother Bob Kunkel and sister Janet (Tom) McGue, son, Kymn (Bobbi) Walter of Colorado, 3 grandchildren Jake, Ryan and Julie and 3 great grandchildren. Survived also by niece and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews as well as many loving cousins and their families. Proud veteran of The United States Marine Corp. Semper Fi brother! Dave was extremely devoted to the Irish community in Columbus. He served as President of the Shamrock Club of Columbus (1988), was Irishman of the year (2004), Shamrock Club Historian, one of the founding members of Shamrock Club Pipes & Drums, and was a member of many of the club's committees. In addition, Dave launched many high school football scholarships through the Shamrock Club. He was a proud member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Patrick Pierce Division and NAUS Club. Dave had many long time friends from Holy Family School that he still kept in touch with. Dave was also an Auxiliary Franklin County Sheriff Deputy, a Member of the Greater Columbus Irish Cultural Foundation, and The Franklinton Historical Society. Dave had such a positive influence on many people, family and friends. There will be one spectacular Saint Patrick's Day party in heaven this year! Special thanks to Kindred Hospice team and nurses and staff at Brookdale at Pinnacle for their wonderful care of our brother. Friends may call Wednesday, January 16 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 East Broad Street. Solemn High Requiem Mass will be Thursday, January 17 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 584 West Broad Street. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
