David "Duke" Schiff, age 78, passed away quietly on May 13, 2018. He was born February 24, 1940 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Col. Albert and Helen Schiff. Survived by his wife, Carol Schiff of 55 years of marriage; children, Brent (Sherri) Schiff and Todd (Marie) Schiff; grandchildren, Kala (Ed) Strawser, Nik, Alissa and Ava; brother-in-law, Dale (Karen) Smith; cousins, a niece and nephew and many friends. Duke was a 1962 graduate of Capital University and received his master's degree in administration from Xavier University. He was employed by the Columbus Public Schools for 35 years. He was a high school history teacher at West High School and a coach for 6 years and in the Columbus Pupil Personnel Dept. for 29 years. He was former president of Bethel Lutheran Church, and an active member for over 40 years. He was a former member of the Southside Optimist Club. His hobbies included bowling, golfing, traveling, motorcycling, playing cards, croquet matches with his family, lunching with friends, family gatherings, coaching his sons growing up and watching his grandchildren play sports. Friends may visit Thursday, May 17 from 4:30-7:30 PM at THE SPENCE-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 2697 Columbus Street, Grove City, Ohio. Funeral service will be held 11 AM Friday, May 18 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 4501 Hoover Road, Grove City, Ohio with Rev. Peter I Ray and Rev. Jeffrey Wise officiating. Interment will follow at Concord Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, and in memory of Duke, please make donations to Bethel Lutheran Church.
