Dennis Luther Deskins was born on October 3, 1954 and passed from this life on October 2, 2017. He was born in South Williamson, Kentucky to Cecil C. and Jean I. Deskins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son David Deskins. Survivors are his loving wife, Debbie Deskins; sons, Daniel (Susie) Slane, Bobby (Brett) Deskins, Heather Milam and Jason Deskins. He was a loving grandfather to six grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Cathy (Mike) Canny; and his nieces. Dennis was the Corporate Director of Security at Washington Prime Group for the last 9 years. He retired as the Chief of Police with the Grove City, Ohio Division of Police in 2007 after a distinguished law enforcement career that spanned over 29 years. He was the recipient of numerous medals and awards, including the Medal of Valor, Good Conduct, Honor Guard, Firearms Expert, Blue Shield, Mayor's Civic Achievement and E.L. Evans Law Enforcement Award (among others). Dennis was the only officer to receive the Officer of the Year Medal twice. Dennis became the first of only two Chiefs of Police to serve the City of Grove City in every capacity possible in the Division of Police from dispatcher to Chief. During his tenure, he received many letters from citizens and city officials, commending him on a job well done. He was known affectionately as "Bull-Dog" because of his outstanding leadership, dedication and "get things done" attitude. Dennis received his Bachelor's degree from Ohio Dominican University in Cross Disciplinary/Criminal Justice. Family will receive friends Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 1-3 and from 5-7 p.m. at MAEDER-QUINT-TIBERI FUNERAL HOME, 1068 S.
