Dorothy Lowe Painter Obituary
Painter Dorothy Lowe Painter, 92, of Delaware, died Sunday, June 25, 2017 at The Grand Senior Living Community in Dublin. She was born December 30, 1924 in Delaware County to the late Bob and Dorothy (Turner) Lowe. Dorothy loved the Lord Jesus. She was an Army Cadet Nurse in training and received her RN from Grant School of Nursing, Columbus, Ohio. She worked at various hospitals in the greater Delaware and Marysville area. Dorothy was honored as the Delaware County Senior Adult Hero by the Red Cross for her service. She was highly involved in her church through teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Prayer Team, choir, pianist, and church leader. Dorothy was an advocate for students at Jerome and Dublin Schools and served both schools in many capacities. She loved her children and never missed a game or event and was fixture at the 50 yard line or center court. Her love extended to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she took every opportunity to attend their various athletic, cultural, and academic events. Although she did not travel extensively, she brought the world to her door. She had foreign students from The Ohio State University and Ohio Wesleyan University visit the farm for Thanksgiving. She also hosted government officials, journalists and missionaries from all over the globe. Her love and friendship reached places she had never even visited through her Christ-like hospitality. She is survived by one son, Charlie (Karen) Painter of Dayton; two daughters, Carla (Gary) Wilber of Troy and Cathy (Doug) Dickson of Dublin; nine grandchildren, Cristian Painter, Tory Painter, Jenni (Matt) Klint, Emily (Chad) Nevels, Abby (Scott) Smith, Angela Carlson, Mandy (Tim) Lillis, Christopher (Mandy) Dickson, and Heidi (Bob) Phillips; eight great grandchildren, Maddi, Alec and Ben Klint, Eli Smith, Morgan Shelton, and Bradley, Kaitlyn, and Wesley Dickson; one sister, Barbara Case of Delaware; two sisters-in-law, Jean and Ernestine Lowe; and many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Carlisle B. Painter and four brothers Raymond, Henry, Fred and Robert Lowe. Memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy's memory to Dublin Baptist Church, The James Medical Center, or Samaritan's Purse. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 9 from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at Dublin Baptist Church. Visitation will also be held at Dublin Baptist Church on Monday, July 10 at 9 a.m. and will be followed by the funeral service at 10 a.m. with her family officiating. Burial will follow the service at Oller Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed to the family and memories shared online at www.RobinsonFuneralHomeInc.com
