Douglas Vernon Krueger Obituary
Krueger Douglas Vernon Krueger. A memorial service celebrating the life of Douglas Vernon Krueger, age 66, of Heath, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 732 Hebron Road, Heath, with the Rev. Richard Burgie, officiating. Inurnment will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens. Doug made it safely home to Heaven on Friday, June 2, 2017 at home with his loving and caring family by his side. It was truly a "Doug kind of day" with clear blue skies. He was born August 26, 1950 in Trenton, Michigan to the late Emil and Wilma Krueger. Doug was a physical education teacher of thirty-eight years with the Southwest Licking School District. While at Watkins, he met his future wife and best friend Jane. He truly loved his profession and challenged his students to live healthier lives and be caring members of society. He was well known for implementing "tire tube" workouts with students, athletes, colleagues and his family. Another passion of Doug's was basketball. Doug played college basketball at West Liberty and coached girls and boys basketball teams at Heath for multiple years. Following retirement, he worked for Quest at Heathwood Village Apartments and loved having the opportunity to be a grounds keeper. He found pleasure being outdoors gardening and landscaping any yard. Doug lived by a simple creed, Faith, Fitness and Family. He was devoted to his family and took every opportunity to be with them. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Jane Lou (Scott) Krueger, whom he married on February 4, 1978; three children, Kelly Jo Dye (Ryan), Kristin Jane Krueger and Scott Douglas Krueger (Stephanie); one grandson, Mason Douglas Dye; sisters, Bonnelle Dodd (Roy), Charleen Strebel (Patrick) and May Meeks (Dean); brothers, Ron Krueger (Connie), David Krueger, brother-in-law, Don Gerling; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his younger sister Jane (Krueger) Gerling, father-in-law George Dwight Scott, mother-in-law Helen Scott and brother-in-law Gene Scott. Family and friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, June 9, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 732 Hebron Road, Heath. The family will welcome visitors one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made in Doug's name to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church or to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, P. O. Box 430, Newark, OH 43058.
