Edward "Ed" R. Percy Sr., age 85, of Pickerington, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of Thursday, September 7, 2017 surrounded by his loving wife of 65 years, his children and their families. Ed was born in South Bend, Indiana, moved to Mansfield, Ohio at an early age and spent his adult years in Newark and Columbus, Ohio. He was a lifelong Buckeyes, Browns and Indians fan. Ed graduated from Mansfield Senior High in 1949 and attended Northwestern State College in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Ed was an avid fisherman and golfer and won Richland County's first junior golf championship in 1949. Among other accomplishments were two holes-in-one. Ed was a veteran of the Korean War, proudly serving his country overseas in the Air Force. Ed retired from Kemba Columbus Credit Union after 17 years of service. He also worked for more than 10 years each at Westinghouse in Newark and a firm that was purchased by ADP Payroll Services in Columbus. Ed was preceded in death by his parents Edna Zimmerman and George H. Percy and brother George Fackler. Survived by wife, Marie (Kirkpatrick); son, Rick (Georgia Ward); two daughters, Anita (Steven) McAfee and Lori (Mark) Uxley; ten grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren (with two more on the way); four nephews and two nieces. Family and friends may visit 2-7 p.m. on Sunday, September 10, at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 550 Hill Rd. N., Pickerington, OH 43147. A funeral service officiated by Pastor Brett Rizzo will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 11, at the funeral home with one hour prior of visitation. Interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
