Elinor "Nori" Sleeper, age 94, of Columbus, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 21, 2017. She was born in Rawlins, Wyoming on March 26, 1923 to the late Arthur and Fredricka Ayala. In addition to her parents, Nori was preceded in death by her husband, John Sleeper; brother, Arthur Ayala; and sister, Loa Henthorne. She is survived by her children, Randy (Yekaterina) Sleeper, Candy (Stan) Clay, Bill (Sandy) Sleeper, John (Renee) Sleeper, and Lori (Jeff) Culwell; 20 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Nori was orphaned at age 11 and grew up in the Soldiers and Sailors Orphanage in Xenia, Ohio which she affectionately referred to as "the home", she enjoyed sharing stories of her childhood with her family and friends. She was a longtime member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church where she was active in Christian Mothers and the Women's Guild, she delighted in making crafts for the annual Christmas bazaar. Nori was a very active member at the McDowell Senior Center for over 20 years where she participated in the Silver Steppers and various aerobics classes. She also enjoyed water aerobics at the YMCA. Nori had fond memories of the 12 years she lived at the Hilltop Senior Village where she had many friends. She loved spending time with her family and will be greatly missed. Friends may call on Thursday, August 24, 2017 from 4:00PM-7:00PM at the HOPE & HEART BY SCHOEDINGER, 3030 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 10:00AM at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2165 West Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43223. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne, Ohio. Donations in Nori's memory may be made to the . Please visit www.HopeandHeart.com to share a memory of Nori.
