Esther Baxter, age 80, of Sunbury, died early Sunday morning, July 23, 2017 at St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville. She was born on August 2, 1936 in Columbus, Ohio the daughter of the late Cora I. (Spillman) Myers. She served in the Woman's Army Corps. While never an official title, Esther was a caregiver over the years for many friends and family. Her most important role was that of mother to her five children. She was an excellent seamstress, sewing clothing and costumes just to name a couple. She also square danced in her younger days as well. Esther loved her flower garden and the wild animals that would come visit her. Her family will remember her love of her kids and grandkids and her baking, especially her clover rolls. She will be missed by her children, Sharon Shicks of Sunbury, Joseph (Pia) Baxter of London, Ohio, Darlene (Guy) White of Mount Vernon, Richard (Sarah) Baxter of Springfield, Ohio, and Gina Baxter of Sunbury; grandchildren, Chad Woodard, Kelly Dotson, Brock Woodard, Nichole Baxter, and Kathryn Baxter; numerous great grandchildren; and brothers, Harold Blair of Columbus, Steve (Sarah) Blair of Mississippi, and Sam (Tracie) Myers of North Carolina. In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by her step-father Jack Myers and son-in-law Russell Shicks. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Sunbury Memorial Park with Pastor Dan Brown officiating.
