1927 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
Wehrle Frank G. Wehrle, 90, of Lancaster passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at the OSU Wexner Medical Center. He was born on May 4, 1927 in Wapakoneta, OH to the late Frank and Jenny (Lee) Wehrle. Frank served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Frank started his career in 1953 at the Columbus Citizen Circulation Department. In 1959 he began working at the Columbus Dispatch Circulation Department. As an employee he demonstrated leadership qualities and was committed to his profession. He received 15 Director's Awards and was the District Manager of the Month 63 times. He retired after 33 years of distinguished newspaper service on May 30, 1992. Frank was inducted into the Dispatch Circulation Hall of Fame on November 21, 1993. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, and a life member of the American Legion and the VFW. Frank was an avid golfer, hitting a hole in one at the Estate Club and was active in the RICA. Frank is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Audrey Joan (Arnold) Wehrle; children, Laura Huggins, Nancy Wehrle, George Wehrle, Mel (Rhonda) Wehrle, Mary Ann (Ralph) Phillips, Betty Jean (Ron) Ruggles, Martha (Don) Adkins, Linda Wehrle, Theresa (Steve Perry) Hinojos, Christina Cassley, William Wehrle (Jodi), John Wehrle (Amy); 24 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; sister, Betty Lou Wehrle; and family friend, Mike Hoover. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandsons Shawn and Nathan, son-in-law Tom Huggins. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church with Fr. Craig Eilerman as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery with military honors.
