Garold Leroy "Gary" Glass, age 79, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 31, 2017. He was born August 21, 1938 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Harold "Wendell" and Madelyn "June" (Schafer) Glass. Gary was a 1957 graduate of West H.S. and was a proud U.S. Marine veteran. He retired from Columbia Gas with over 36 years of service. Gary was a member of Luther B. Turner Lodge F&AM #732 and American Legion Post #532. He coached Holly Hill Eagles football and Holly Hill baseball for many years. His family was very important to him, especially his grandkids. He enjoyed going out to eat often and out for afternoon drives. He was an avid motorcycle rider who owned countless bikes over the years. He was also a big Rusty Wallace NASCAR fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter Courtney Merz. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Jackie; children, Teri (Joe) Merz, John (Michelle) Glass, Rick (Rose) Abbott, Sunday Abbott, and Roger (Sue) Sexton; grandchildren, Lyndsay (Ken) Robinson, Kyle Merz, Autumn (Sean) Young, and Emily and John Glass; great-grandchildren, Bella, Ava, Madelynne, Reed, and Zaquery; sister, Linda (Al) Dunhill; brother, Dick Glass; brother-in-law, Sam Godwin; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Schoedinger Grove City Chapel, 3920 Broadway, Grove City where funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday. Pastor Tom Knauff officiating. Interment Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gary's memory may be made to Nationwide Children's Foundation, P.O. Box 16810, Columbus, Ohio 43216. The family would like to express their appreciation for the professional and loving care given by the staff of Vitas Hospice, especially, Lisa Henderson, Jodi Pringle, Lemessa Riley, Doc Huston, Breanne Milfelt, and Robert Riepenhoff; Roger Toyloy and Melvin Burkes from Advocare; and special caregivers, Sunday Abbott and Sam Godwin.
