George was born March 20, 1929 in Unionport, Ohio to Benjamin and Olga Ratzenberger. After graduating from Wintersville High School, Wintersville, Ohio, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. In 1948 he married Priscilla Votey, the love of his life for 50+ years. They traveled from Kessler AFB, Biloxi, Mississippi to Cleveland, to Griffiss AFB, N.Y. George completed his stint in the Air Force as an F-86 Sabrejet crew chief in the 27th Fighter Interceptor Squadron in 1952. He retired from NA/Rockwell in 1986 after 34 years of dedicated service. George and Priscilla then moved to Pensacola, Florida. After Priscilla's passing in 1999, he rekindled a friendship with Linda Kratzer and soon she became the second love of his life. They married in 2001. George loved everything about the outdoors, jazz, aviation, golf, reading about history and sailing.
