Harold V. Hart Obituary
Hart Harold V. Hart, of Tucson, Arizona passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Casa de la Luz Hospice at the age of 95. Born in Grandview Heights, Columbus, Ohio on February 17, 1922 to Harold and Daisy Hart, Harold graduated from North High School. He enlisted in the US Navy after the Pearl Harbor attack. After completing his basic training, he was assigned to a newly commissioned destroyer escort, the USS Sturtevant (DE239). He proudly served aboard the Sturtevant as a coxswain while the ship made numerous voyages across the Atlantic Ocean escorting US convoys to northern Africa and to Ireland and England. After the war, Harold graduated from the Columbus, Ohio Firefighters Academy and served as a fireman with the Columbus Fire Department until he retired. Upon retirement Harold and his wife Alice, purchased a 47 acre farm near Lancaster, Ohio and enjoyed raising chickens and farming. They were also avid rock collectors and jewelry makers. He is survived by his wife, Alice; and her daughter, Barbara (William) Leightenheimer, and first wife's Catherine's daughter, Dianne Zerega and Diane's children, John Zerega and Daisy (Franklin) Forsythe and family; niece, June (Wayne) Robeen; friends, and fellow rockhounds. He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Daisy Hart, brothers Willie, Glen, and sister Marie. A graveside service will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery in Lancaster, Ohio.
