Harry S. Armstrong, age 88, born Oct. 6 1929, passed away January 28, 2018. He was born in Columbus, Ohio to Garnet and O. J. (Orval Judson) Armstrong. His parents preceded him in death. Harry was the youngest of five children preceded in death by three sisters Louise, Betty and Thelma, one brother O.J. Junior and his wife Geraldine. He is survived by his sons, Jerome and Jeffrey Armstrong; and his granddaughterm Shannon Eichorn. Harry was a man of many trades starting in the steel industry and working finally in construction. Harry was proud of his children and what they had done with their lives becoming not only successful in their careers but also caring adults. He loved the outdoor life and involved his family in his pursuits of camping, fishing and hunting. He was loved by all that he came into contact each day and always had a joke and a smile. He met his wife Geraldine in Philadelphia while convalescing at the naval hospital recovering from injuries acquired during his service in the Korean War. After many years taking care of his family in Ohio, he moved south to North Carolina where he eventually retired. He was a regular on Sundays at his church, Saint John's Lutheran Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. A memorial service will be held at the church at a date to be determined and will be buried in Sycamore Cemetery with his mother in Hurricane, West Virginia.
