Harry Morton Wheeler, age 92, of Plain City, passed away Sunday morning, February 25, 2018 at Dublin Methodist Hospital. Born May 20, 1925 in Blaine, KY. He was a veteran of the US Army during WW II. PVT 1st Class in Company F, 28th Infantry and was a replacement during D Day and arrived on Omaha Beach, Normandy, France the day after. Harry earned a Purple Heart Medal on December 9, 1944 in the Hurtgen Forest, Germany. Harry retired from Capitol Manufacturing of Columbus and West Jefferson as a Tool Grinder after 47 years of service. Preceded in death by his parents Lon and Emily (Green) Wheeler, siblings and spouses Leslie (Irene) Wheeler, Thelma (John) Kazee, Laura (Escom) Skaggs, Gladys (Richard) Dials, Leanore (Stacy) Boggs, Howard (Pauline) Wheeler, Fred Wheeler, Herman (Alverna) Wheeler, Leatrice (Jim) Creech, Roberta Wheeler, Delores Wheeler and brother-in-law Jesse Holland. Survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Christina (Ward) Wheeler; children, Douglas (Alycia) Wheeler, Teresa (Rick) Eger Martens and Don (Mary) Eger; grandchildren, Emily and Allison Wheeler, Melinda, Kyle and Caleb Martens, Jordan, Galen and Tori Eger; sister, Maxine Holland of Tempe, AZ; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Friday at Ferguson Funeral Home, 202 E. Main Street, (St. Rt. 161W) Plain City, where the Memorial Service will be held at 10 am Saturday, March 3, 2018, with full military honors conducted by the Union County Honor Guard. Rev. Greg Creech officiating, the body has been cremated and burial Forest Grove Cemetery at a later date.
