Herbert Lee Brown, age 70, of 3185 Wilkes Yadkin Road, Roaring River, NC, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018 at his residence. He was born June 28, 1947 in McDowell County, West Virginia to the late Walter and Vivian Bryan Brown. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Brown of the home; one son, Herbert Brown, Jr. of Columbus, OH; one daughter, Anissa Lynn Brown of Columbus, OH; one granddaughter, Layla Brown of Columbus, OH; two step-children, Warren Dobbins and Sabrina Dobbins, both of Roaring River; three step-grandsons, Kevin Dobbins, Phil Waldrup, and Sydne Waldrup, all of Roaring River; one step-great-granddaughter, Leila Dobbins of Roaring River; five sisters, Regina Parham and husband, Ronald of Fort Campbell, KY, Bernice Jacobs of Patterson, NJ, Joyce Brown of Washington, DC, Venia Price and husband, Goldie of Washington, DC, Annette Harris of N. Wilkesboro; four brothers, Walter Brown, Jr. and wife, Cheryl of Bristol, VA, Doug Brown and wife, Vera of Sparta, Steve Brown of N. Wilkesboro, and Alvin Brown of Sparta; a host of nieces and nephews also survive. The family requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service to honor the life of Herbert at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2018 in the chapel of Grandview Memorial Funeral Home with Reverend William Scott and Reverend Verl Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with full military rites conducted by Bruce Wayne Osborne VFW Post #7034. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. The family requests no flowers please but memorials may be made to Macedonia Baptist Church, c/o Eva Brandon, 5455 Hundley Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
