Howard Angel Spring, age 86, a longtime resident of Columbus, Ohio and born in New Philadelphia, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2018. Howard was a Veteran, U.S. Army during the Korean War. Howard proudly sold Maxwell Coffee for General Foods for over 32 years. Howard was preceded in death by his parents Howard R. and Zada Spring, brother Gerald R. Spring, sister Veda McKerrihan and step grandchild Justin Hostetter. Howard is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Bonnie; sons, Christopher (Tracey Ann) Spring and Phillip (Tracey Kay) Spring; stepchildren, Kathy (Paul) Groeniger, John (Annette) Witherspoon and Rich (Jane) Witherspoon; grandson, Aaron (Madeline) Spring; step grandchildren, Grace (Chris) Sampson, Andrew (Rachael) Groeniger, Jack, Elise, Grant, Mitchell and Mila Witherspoon; great grandchildren, Micah, Charlotte, Amara and Conrad Spring; step great grandchildren, Isabella Sampson and Ezra Groeniger; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Howard was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School, received his BS in Commerce from The Ohio State University, was a member of the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity and was an avid Buckeye fan. Howard was a longtime, faithful member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church. He was a 53-year member of York Lodge #563 and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason in the ASSR - Valley of Columbus. Howard also proudly volunteered at the Arthritis Foundation of Columbus Ohio for over 20 years. Family will receive friends on Friday, March 2 from 5-7 p.m. at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High Street, Worthington, Ohio 43085. Funeral Service led by Pastor June Wilkens to be held on Saturday, March 3 at 9:30 a.m. at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 35 E. Stanton Ave., Worthington, Ohio 43214. Military burial at Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gethsemane Lutheran Church or Ohio Health Hospice in Howard's memory. Condolences may be made to the family at www.rutherfordfuneralhome.com
