Jacqueline L. Rogers "Jackie" Stewart Obituary
Stewart Jacqueline "Jackie" L. Rogers Stewart, 76, born December 28, 1940, passed away May 18, 2017. Raised in Baton Rouge, LA, where she graduated from Capitol High School in 1959. A veteran of the U.S. Women's Army Corps, she retired from DFAS where she was employed as a system accountant. She also worked for the State of Ohio, Meals on Wheels, and the Ohio Theater. Jackie was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she was a dedicated servant to the Lord for over 5 decades. From singing to culinary services, to lending an ear and inspirational words, Jackie would do whatever she could to help others. She organized the Comfort Ministry at her church, and was a member of various choirs throughout the city, including the Harmony Force Shape Note Singers. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years SSG (Ret) Robert Lee Stewart, Sr., sons Robert "Bobby" Stewart and Richard "Dicky" Tanner, parents Lolo Rogers and Doris Germany Rogers, stepmother Luella "Mother" Dehon Rogers, brother Cleo "Pappy" Rogers, and son-in-law George Slate. Left to cherish her legacy are her children, Marcialine Slate, Doris Stewart, Christopher Stewart, Stephanie Stewart, and Vincent (Jackie) Stewart; brothers, Andrew Patin and Lawrence Rogers; sisters, Theresa Kelly, Velma (Louis) Armstrong, Cleotha Alexis Rogers, Flora Mae Rogers, Rose Johnson, Irma Davis, and Sonda Rogers; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Homegoing Celebration 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Trinity Baptist Church, 461 St. Clair Ave., where her family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the start of service. Rev. Dr. Victor M. Davis, officiating. Interment with Military Honors in Green Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long Street.
