James A. Kitchen. "Jim" was born April 4, 1939, in Fostoria Ohio to Kenneth and Catherine(Eishen)Kitchen. He passed January 7th, 2018 due to natural causes. He is survived by two older brothers, a younger brother, and three younger sisters, David, Dennis, Mary, Rose, Louis and Angela. The Family owned and operated Kitchen's House of Music in Fostoria, where he worked as a teen. Blessed musically, he learned to play guitar as a young man. He returned from military duty and met Mary "Kay" Gerdeman while attending Bowling Green State University near Toledo, Ohio. They married and moved to Columbus, raising three boys, Kenneth, Joseph and Timothy. Jim stayed close to the music business, working as a traveling sales agent for musical instrument companies before opening his own music stores, Music Gallery, in Columbus. He enjoyed his grandkids, playing the guitar and pedal steel guitar, listening to good music, playing bid euchre, and Buckeye football and basketball. Jim is survived by his sons Ken (and Debbi) Kitchen, Joe (and Trinka) Kitchen, and Tim (and Gretchen Matthews) Kitchen. He is also survived by his grandchildren Ethan, Abraham, Sera and Eli. Jim is also survived by partner Jackie Jones. Visiting begins at 2 pm, and service at 3 pm on January 17, 2018, at Shaw-Davis Funeral Home in Columbus, Ohio. 4341 N. High St., Columbus, Ohio 43214
