James W. Willis, age 83+ years, died July 10th 2017 at Riverside Hospital. Born July 29th 1933 in Hainesville KY, he was known for his inquisitive mind and ability to repair anything, always coming up with brilliant inventions. James started his long aviation career with 4 years in the Air force ranked Staff Sergeant working on B-47's. He retired from TWA and UPS as an Aircraft Mechanic, for his dedication and work ethic the FAA bestowed upon him the Charles Taylor Award for over 50 years of service as Master Mechanic. He loved his family dearly, playing games with grandchildren trying to "get one over on them", always quick with a smile, or funny joke. Living in Ohio for 52 years he is preceded in death by his parents James A. Willis and Mary A. (Ortkiese) and brother, Don W. Married 63 years James is survived by his great love, Norma A. (Gadd); 3 sons, Steve (Mary) Michael (Tamara) David (Jenny); 2 daughters, Andrea Knapp and Alecia Willis (Sean); 7 grandchildren Lindsey Shepherd, Brandon Willis, Tony Willis (Mary), Brad Willis, Leslie Kates (Russell), Cora Willis, and Tim Willis (Shelby); and 2 great-grandchildren Chloe Shepherd and Elliana Kates. Viewing is Friday July 21st from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 at Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 Johnstown Road, Gahanna Ohio 43230. Funeral will be officiated by Pastor Michael Brown on Saturday July 22nd 10:00am at Franklin United Brethren Church, 7171 Central College Rd New Albany Ohio 43054, with a gathering at said church immediately following the burial at Maplewood Cemetery, 4585 Reynoldsburg New Albany Ohio 43054.
