Jane Shaffer, age 91, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Member of Overbrook Presbyterian Church, where she served as an Elder, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and many other committees. Member of Clintonville Woman's Club, founding member of Assistance League of Metro Columbus, and Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 298. Born in Sidney, Ohio to Bonnie and Arthur Werst on March 9, 1926. Graduate of Sidney High School and attended Ohio Northern. Librarian and City Auditor in Sidney, Ohio. She felt blessed to be surrounded by her family who all lived in Columbus and she loved spending time with them. Preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Ben Shaffer, daughter Myra Shaffer and brother Bill Werst. Survived by children, Emily (Jeff) Webb, Sarah Shaffer, and Fred (Roxanne) Shaffer; grandchildren, Jessica (Nate) Bischoff and Olivia (James) Mullins, Michaela, Mariah, and Marissa Shaffer; great-grandchildren, Paul and Evelyn Bischoff; many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High St., Worthington, OH Friday, July 28 from 4-8 p.m. Private family graveside and interment. Memorial service at Overbrook Presbyterian Church, 4131 N. High St., 1 p.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017. Rev. Bill Gause officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions, if desired may be made to Cystic Fibrosis or Overbrook Presbyterian Church, Music Program.
