Jesse Max Karr went to be with his Lord on July 23, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. He passed peacefully with his family at his side. He is preceded in death by his wife Velma. Born January 17, 1945 to the late Jesse D. Karr and Juanita (Lawhorn) Karr at St. Ann's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from Hamilton High School in 1964, and served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He married his loving wife, Velma Anderson-Fields on June 27, 1983, whom he diligently served through her illness, and lost on their 27th anniversary, June 27, 2010. Max was a dedicated employee of Columbus Sign for over 25 years. His work can be seen all over Columbus. Max was loved by all who met him. He was a kind and giving soul with an infectious smile and an open heart. He loved spending time and riding his Harley with friends and family. He was a long time member of Leave A Mark Church, and was part of the Motorcycle ministry there. He also served with the Emmaus Walk team. Max is survived by his sister, Ruth Yarber (Bob); three step-sons, Keith (Kathy) Fields, Larry (Tammy) Fields, Terry Fields (Deblyn Van Galder); seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two nieces; one nephew, three great nieces; one great nephew; and his elusive cat, Peanut. Friends may call Wednesday, July 26, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the O.R. WOODYARD CO, 1346 S. High St., where service will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Steve Combs officiating. Interment Obetz Cemetery.
