Joan Lafean Bishoff Obituary
Bishoff Joan Lafean Bishoff, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2017 with her family by her side. Born in Pittsburgh, Pa, she was a graduate of Allegheny College and a member of Kappa Alpha Theta fraternity. She moved to Columbus in the early '50's with her beloved husband, E.V. Bishoff. She embraced Columbus immediately and enjoyed her involvement in organizations dear to her heart. She was honored to be a charter member on the Women's Board of the Columbus Museum of Art and was intimately involved in the opening of The Palette, the first restaurant in the museum. She served on the Women's Board of the Franklin Park Conservatory and was an active member of The Little Garden Club, nurturing her lifelong love of florals and landscape. She would want a loving mention made of her sewing group - her dear friends who gathered faithfully for over 45 years for luncheon, needlepoint and lively conversation. She was a long time member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist and The Columbus Country Club. She is predeceased by her husband of 52 years, E.V. Bishoff. She is survived by her children, Karen Bishoff van Assenderp (Ken), Beth Bishoff Opgrand (Kip) and David Bishoff (Lisa); her grandchildren, Ronald (Megan), David and Douglas Bertucci, Alexandra and Weston Bishoff; and great grandchildren, Nila Joan and James Bertucci. Our heartfelt gratitude to her loving group of caregivers. Their love and dedication will be forever appreciated. A memorial service followed by a cocktail reception in celebration will be held on Wednesday, May 17 at 6:30 p.m. at The Columbus Country Club, 4831 E. Broad St. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Columbus Museum of Art, attention development department, 480 E. Broad St., Columbus, Oh. 43215. Arrangements entrusted to SCHOEDINGER MIDTOWN Chapel. To share a fond memory or condolence, visit www.schoedinger.com.
