Joanne Nadine (Mills) Dafler entered eternal life with Jesus on January 15, 2018. She was born in Franklin Township in Darke County, Ohio on November 25, 1929 to parents Ernest and Elva Mills. She has one sibling, brother Marvin Mills of Dayton. Joanne graduated from the Monroe Township school system in 1947. She attended Capital University, graduating in 1951 with a Bachelor of Music degree with a piano major. On June 15, 1952 she married Fred Dafler, a 1950 Capital graduate. Joanne taught piano to many in the Arcanum-Pitsburg area from 1951 to 1969. She was very active in singing in Sweet Adelines and church choirs, as well as at numerous weddings and as a vocalist or piano player. Her life was filled with a love of music. She was an active member of the Central Ohio Squeezebox Society until multiple myeloma took her strength and hindered her singing. Joanne was a marvelous mother of two girls: Michelle Durrett (Sean) and Claudia Plumley (Thad). She had two grandchildren, Olivia and Evan Durrett. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church, including Lord of Life Lutheran Church at 2480 W. Dublin Granville Road in Columbus for 48 years. The visitation will be held at the church on January 19, 2018 from 5-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the church on Saturday, January, 20, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Capital University Conservatory of Music.
