Joe Hamilton Obituary
Hamilton, Joe
Joe Warren Hamilton, age 66 of Sunbury went home to be with the Lord Friday morning, November 24, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a 3-year battle with ALS. He was born on April 21, 1951 in Galena, Ohio the son of the late Warren and Hazel (Evans) Hamilton. Shortly after graduation from Big Walnut High School in the class of 1970, Joe enlisted in the U.S. Army serving part of those 2 years in Germany. On April 20, 1974 he married Sheri McNichols in Clintwood, Virginia on their "1st date". They enjoyed shopping, going to lunch, and attending church together over their 43 years together as husband and wife. Joe was a Union Drywall Finisher for 35 years, most notably for South Texas Drywall. His work was immaculate and he was one of the best at his craft. He was a member of Sunbury Christian Church and played Santa Clause for the local preschoolers. He was a collector of stamps, coins, and autographs, enjoyed doing yard work, cooking, especially his famous apple dumplings, and spoiling his grandboys. Joe was an honest man who left an imprint on those he touched. His love of helping those in need and the love for his family will be his lasting legacy. He will be missed by his loving wife Sheri; their loving daughter Heather Andreini and her husband Eric of Sunbury; grandchildren Thomas, Jonathan, Nathan, and Jackson; brothers Jerry of Sunbury and Tony and his wife Debbie of Centerburg; sisters Jenny Butts and her husband Jim of Logan, Ohio, Linda Paul and her husband Tom of Westerville, Susie Colegrove and her husband Ed of Mount Gilead, and Cindy White and her husband Billy of Mount Gilead; mother-in-law Ellen McNichols of Sunbury; Brother-in-law Rodger McNichols of Delaware, Kenney McNichols of Otway; and Jeff McNichols of Delaware; sister-in-law Tami Holton of Delaware; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his father-in-law Ed McNichols, brother-in-law Donnie McNichols, and nieces and nephews. Friends may call on the family on Monday, November 27, 2017 from 4-8 PM at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 North State Route 61, Sunbury, Ohio.
