John Charles "Chuck" Falter Obituary
Falter John Charles "Chuck" Falter, 79, of Osprey, FL, previously from Alpharetta, GA, and originally from Columbus, OH, passed on March 21, 2017. He graduated from Aquinas High School in 1955, attended The Ohio State University and served for over two years in the U.S. Army. He then began his career at The Herman Falter Packing Company of Columbus, where he was a cattle buyer and manager. Later he and his brother Dick bought what became The Village Packing Company. They supplied Wendy's Restaurants in 17 states with fresh ground beef while Chuck was Vice-President. He retired from Friona Industries in 1985.He enjoyed hunting, boating, working in his yard and fine dining. He was a member of The Oaks Golf Club. Chuck was an avid golfer and both he and his brother Dick at one time owned the Plant City Golf Club in Florida. Chuck was a big-hearted man; throughout his life he was always generous with his time and caring ways for others. This gracious man was much loved by his family and many friends and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his spouse Kent L. Reedy, his parents Leo Stephen and Clara Grace (Levisay) Falter, sister Frances (Daniel) Grimes, and brother Richard (Dorothy) Falter. Chuck is survived by his sister, Carolyn (Patrick) Murnane, Lancaster, OH; brother-in-law, Daniel R. Reedy, Eustis, FL; many nieces and nephews and other loving relatives and friends, especially Michael and Debbie Gmitruk and lastly, his constant companion, his beloved Portuguese water dog, "Ivy". The Falter family would like to thank Dr. Stephen Culp, his wife Kathy and staff for their exceptional warmth and care. Family will receive friends on Sunday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at MAEDER-QUINT-TIBERI Funeral Home, 1068 S. High St., Columbus, OH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Magdalene, 473 South Roys Avenue, Columbus OH. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne, OH.
