A Funeral Mass for John "Jack" Thomas McManus, 87, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 11, 2017, with Rev. G. Michael Gribble as celebrant. Jack, a longtime parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, died at Mt. Carmel East Medical Center on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. He was born in Cambridge, Ohio on June 24, 1930 to the late Walter and Margaret (Shuttleworth) McManus. Jack worked for many years as a plastic engineer for various businesses in Ohio including Ohio Plastics, Kenton Molded Plastics, and Cycra Racing, from which he retired at the age of 77. Jack is survived by his wife, Janet (McKenna) McManus; children, Connie (John) Adams, Barbara Reichenbach; and Thom (Bethanne) McManus; eight grandchildren; 21 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren (+two more on the way); step-children, Geoffrey T. (Valerie) Cahill, Pamela J. (Mike) Cordle, Michael F. (Faye) Hill, and Susan M. Hill; seven step-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Evelyn McManus; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved pup, Lilly. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his first wife O. Lee McManus, grandson Jason Adams, son-in-law Rex Reichenbach, brothers Hugh, Joe, Bob, and Roger McManus, sisters Mary Alice (John) Lerner and Betty (Russ) Cooper.
