John "Mac" Meegan, Sr. age 79, formerly of Uniontown, passed away peacefully after an extended illness on November 9, 2017 at his son's home in Powell, Ohio where he had been residing. He was born and raised in Leisenring #1. He graduated from Dunbar High School and attended Indiana, Georgia and Salem Universities. He was the former owner of John Meegan Ford of Mount Pleasant, PA. Mac is survived by his wife, Emily Newcomer Meegan; son, John Meegan Jr. and his wife, Kimberley, and three grandsons, Jacob, Steven and Nicholas Meegan, all of Powell, OH. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was especially fond of James Meegan II and a very dear cousin, Elaine Linegar of Richmond, California. Besides his parents Grace (Blaney) and Lawrence Meegan, he is preceded in death by his sister Joanne (Charles) Mertz and his brother James Meegan and wife Elizabeth. John was a member of the Uniontown Masonic Lodge #228, the Shriners of Pittsburgh and BPOE Elks #370 of Uniontown. He served in the United States Army Reserves where he received an honorable discharge. He enjoyed most all sports but was especially fond of football and the Pittsburgh Steelers. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Capital City Hospice for their welcomed services. Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIES, INC., 80 Morgantown St., Uniontown, PA, where family and friends will be received on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday, November 1, 2017 from 10-11 am in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church followed by a service at 11 am with Rev. Keith Anderson officiating.
