Jonas J. "Dick" Schlabach, age 82, of Plain City, passed away Monday evening, November 6, 2017 at Altercare of Hilliard surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 24, 1935 in Fredericksburg, to the late John N. and MaryAnn (Slabaugh) Schlabach. Dick was born and raised on a farm where he began working at just 8 years old. This is where he developed his dedicated and strong work ethic. He retired from Ranco after 33 years as the Shipping Foreman and then began working with his daughter and son-in-law at Hochstetler Buildings. Dick then increased his hours with Perry's True Value Hardware Store where he worked until the day before he went to the hospital. Dick loved nature and being outdoors, along with fishing, bird watching and caring for the yard. He also enjoyed watching The Ohio State Buckeyes. Dick was a dedicated member of the Sharon Mennonite Church and his church family was important to him. Most of all he loved and adored his family. Along with his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his step-mother Mary (Miller) Schlabach, sister Sarah Miller, brotherLevi "Lee" Schlabach, brother-in-law Eugene D. Miller. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Marjorie (Yoder) Schlabach, whom he married on June 23, 1957; loving daughters, Debra (Glenn) Hochstetler, Marilyn Schlabach, Carol (Don) Schleich, Joan Schlabach; grandchildren, Jeffrey Hochstetler, Jenna Hochstetler, Daniel Caruso, II, Megan (Nick) Morosco, Allyson Schleich and Troy Schleich; great grandsons, Harrison and Theodore Morosco; sister-in-law, Ada Schlabach; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday at the Sharon Mennonite Church, 7675 Amity Pike, Plain City, where the funeral will be held at 11 AM Saturday, November 11, 2017 with Pastor Robert Yoder officiating and burial Sharon Mennonite Cemetery.
