Joseph L. Auker, 87 recently of Marysville, formerly of Columbus, where he lived most of his life, died peacefully on November 6, 2017 at Memorial Hospital as the result of complications from pneumonia with his family by his side. Born September 27, 1930 in New Straitsville, OH to the late Harry and Elsie Auker of Logan, Ohio. Joe served in the US Marine Corp, was a Scoutmaster with Troop #250 at St. Agnes Church. He worked for Rodenfels Chevrolet for 19 years and later retired from Ohio Domincan College where he worked as a Stationery Engineer. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by twin sons Joseph and Michael Auker, brothers Dick (Arlene) Auker, Bob (Evelyn) Auker, sister Mary Lou (Bob) Whitcraft. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sylvia (Corby) Auker; son, Ed (Connie) Auker of Dublin, Ohio; daughters, Julia (Larry) Fitzwater, Janet Auker, both of Marysville, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Amber (Chris) Locke, Michelle (Rob) Winnenberg, Rachael (Keith) Severs, Ashley (Rich) Talbott, Michael Auker, Ryan (Becca) Auker, Glen Auker, Sarah Auker, Adeline Fitzwater, Carly Fitzwater; 10 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Ferguson Funeral Home, 202 E. Main St. (St Rt 161 W) Plain City. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, November 10, 2017 at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery Chapel, 6440 S. High Street, Lockbourne, OH 43137.
