Juanita Schmieder Obituary
Schmieder, Juanita "Bonnie"
1922 - 2019
Juanita "Bonnie" Marie (Wetzel) Schmieder, age 96, died January 5, 2019 peacefully at home. She was born to Urban and Neoma (Depweg) Wetzel on May 26, 1922 in Minster, Ohio as the second of 13 children. She is survived by her husband of 69 years Fred Schmieder, her daughters Emily (Robert) Copeland, Jane Aster, Gwen (Trent) Davis, and son Eric (Pamela) Schmieder, as well as grandchildren Angelica Star, Austin (Christina) Keith, Erica Blinn, Casey (Jeremiah) Blinn-Smith, Dr. Matthew (Leslie) Schmieder, John Schmieder, Renee Copeland and great-grandchildren Everett and Elise Schmieder. Bonnie was known to her many friends and extensive relatives as a woman of boundless energy and strength. And though she could accurately be described as a "force of nature" she was a warm and caring soul with a generous and welcoming spirit. She enjoyed many interests throughout her life and continued to learn new things as she aged with grace. She played tennis, basketball, ice skated, and played the flute. Bonnie was a licensed beautician and owned and operated her own beauty shop for ten years. She was an excellent cook and loved to entertain. She was a long time season ticket holder to Opera Columbus but could also be seen cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes. She was an avid gardener and an expert seamstress. She was eager to join any outing or activity whether dancing or sledding, dining out or traveling. But mostly Bonnie loved helping her family and close friends in any way she could. She would drop anything she was doing to come to the aid of someone in need. Bonnie was strong in her faith and an active member of St. Michael's parish for over 60 years. Perhaps her granddaughter Casey best described Bonnie's energy and generosity when she observed that "You know, Grandma has not actually gone through the Gates of Heaven yet because she is still out front pulling weeds." Amen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Minster, Ohio on June 14, 2019 at 1:00 PM. Committal of ashes will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery.
