A funeral service celebrating the life of Judith A. "Judi" Hollar, age 75, of Newark, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27, at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Judi passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at her home with her family by her side. She was born February 21, 1942 in Newark, Ohio to the late John and Helen (VanFossen) Helphrey. Judi was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed. She enjoyed gardening and league bowling with her friends. She was also a member of Neal Avenue United Methodist Church. Judi had previously worked at Roper Industries and Cardinal Vending Services in Newark and Columbus, Ohio. Judi was a graduate of Newark High School, class of 1960. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Charles E. Hollar, whom she married on March 17, 1962; son, Douglas B. Hollar; sister-in-law, Cindy Hollar; grandson, Daniel Christopher Hollar; a sister, Joan (Ricky) Crosizer; and special friend considered to be a daughter, Janette McCartney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Jeffrey Allen Hollar (1990) and a brother John Helphrey, Jr. Family and friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 26, at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark. Memorial contributions may be made to The Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, Post Office Box 430, Newark, Ohio 43058.
