Kelly Mahlon Gray Obituary
Gray Kelly Mahlon Gray, age 81, passed away on May 27, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 16, 1936 in Stanley, VA in Pine Grove. He is preceded in death by his loving grandmother Elizabeth, who actually raised him, and his parents Minnie Elizabeth and Isaac Gray. He is also preceded in death by his brothers Dempsey, Oliver "Bugi", sister-in-law Betty Gray, mother-in-law and father-in-law Pauline and Joseph Weinsteger, whom he considered his endearing parents, and brothers-in-law Joseph and Charles "Rollo" Weinsteger. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Marie, who often referred to him as "loves": son, Michael (Rita) Gray; daughter, Paula (Matthew) Stranges; daughter, Michelle Gray (fiancé Joey Ross); son, Charles (fiancé Carla Urse) Gray; seven grandchildren that meant the world to him, Seth (fiancé' Kelsey), Gabrielle (Ryan), Jennica, Olivia, Anthony, Andrew and Stacey; brother, Michael (Darlene) Gray; sister-in-law, Linda Weinsteger; and many nieces and nephews. Kelly was an Army veteran of the Korean War and proud to be a member of the service. He was a member of the St. Matthias Athletic Club, St. Clair AC and the Amvet Post #87. He was a simple man and nothing was more important than being with family and friends and having a good time. He always expressed how proud he was of his children and supported them in everything they did. He loved his garden and bib overhauls and was proud of canning his marinara sauce. He enjoyed his beer, his Jell-O shots and anything in between. He never refused any dessert, particularly chocolate pie and ice cream. While he enjoyed all sports, there was no team better than his Michigan Wolverines. He was a man of nine lives with a history of medical issues, but he never once did pass up the chance to say "thank you" to those who cared for him. During these last several months particularly, he called out on numerous occasions the great care his wife was giving him. There was never a time he didn't make us laugh with a joke or a comment. His quick wit and humor will forever be with us. The family sincerely thanks those staff members at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Kobacker House, the VA and the many other family members and friends that were always there in one way or another. Friends may call at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E.
