During WWII, he served in the US Navy as a naval aviator. After the War, he obtained a mechanical engineering degree at the University of North Dakota and subsequently earned his Professional Engineering registration. He and Leona traveled extensively for his career, both in the US and overseas. After retirement, they settled in Ocala FL, where they were enthusiastic golfers and active in community groups. After Leona's passing, he moved to Dublin OH to be near his daughter, where he lived at Dublin Retirement Village and then at Glenwood Alzheimer's Care Facility. Throughout his life, he was outgoing and sociable, with a ready smile and a strong handshake for all. He was a loving husband and father who worked hard to provide a good life for his family. He passed away on March 18, 2017 at The Sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, please honor Lane's memory by giving someone a big smile and a firm handshake.
