Laura Herring Obituary
Herring, Laura
Laura May Herring (née Cowhard), of Hilliard, Ohio, left this earth unexpectedly on Monday, September 11, 2017. Laura was born on March 8, 1959 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Elbert "Al" Cowhard and Louada May Roman. Laura leaves behind her loving husband and best friend of 32 years, Chris Herring, along with their two cherished sons and families, Ryan and Shannen Herring; Kyle Herring and Denise Hasson. She loved and was loved by many, including her mother-in-law, Jean Herring; sister, Beth Sisk and husband, Randy; sister, Sharon Dente and husband, Mark; brother-in-law, David Herring and wife, Linda; and brother-in-law, Keith Herring and wife, UnKyong Yun; nieces and nephews, Marissa, Anthony, Emily, Matthew, Taylor and Jeana Lynn. She found great joy in spending time with and spoiling the adored younger generations of the family, Brody, Bennett and Ezekiel. In addition to her parents, Laura was preceded in death by stepfather Denny Roman, father-in-law Bill Herring, and grandparents Lou and Ada Schaefer and Rose Cowhard. Laura had a profound love for her family, as well as her countless friends and coworkers whom she made feel like family. She graduated in 1977 from Chagrin Falls High School, and in 1982 from the University of Cincinnati. Her career in banking extended over 26 years and culminated in her position as Chief Retail Banking Officer for United Midwest Savings Bank. All who were lucky enough to know her were touched by her caring, curious, compassionate and loving spirit. Laura's family circle wouldn't be complete without her "fur beasts and babies", of whom she always had pictures and stories available. Many of Laura's most cherished moments were spent traveling and antiquing with Chris, celebrating milestones with her boys, and taking care of anyone who needed care. She was always thinking of others before herself. Collectibles like Dickens Village houses, Spode, Precious Moments, and lighthouse mementos were curated always with the intent of someday sharing them with those she loved. Though Laura's time came far too soon, her memory is sure to live in the hearts and minds of those she affected. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 17, at Northwest United Methodist Church, 5200 Riverside Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43220. The family will receive friends from 5-6:30 p.m. The celebration of life will begin at 6:30 p.m. Memorial donations can be made to Cat Welfare Association, 741 Wetmore Road, Columbus, Ohio 43214; Orange and Black Cat Foundation in Plain City, Ohio; or a .
