Lawrence Leo Loughead, DDS, passed from this life on July 25, 2017 having been well loved and respected. Born 1932 to Margaret and S. Edwin Loughead in Cleveland, OH. He graduated from John Marshall High School, Miami University in 1954 and The Ohio State University College of Dentistry cum laude in 1961. Receiving a NROTC Scholarship, he proudly served as a commissioned officer aboard the USS Maloy. He had many good stories and fond memories of his Navy years. He married Alice Fair Loughead June 12, 1954 after meeting her on his first day at Miami University; they were happily married for 63 years. He is survived by his wife, Alice; sons, Dr. Jeffrey (Mindy), Dr. Douglas (Lisa); daughter, Dr. Erin (Aaron) Whittaker; and grandchildren, Brittany (Pat) Grannan, Molly (Mike) Egnot, Connor, Graham, Katherine, Annelise, Mackenzie Loughead, Jack, Mitchell, and Tessa Whittaker; two great-grandchildren, Amelia and Curtis. He is also survived by sisters, Ruth (Allen) Sturges and Linda (Dr. Albert) Saleker; brother-in-law, Ken (Linda) Fair. Predeceased by parents and sister Margaret Loughead. Larry's generosity and his commitment to education positively influenced many people. He practiced dentistry in Clintonville for 50 years; much of his dental work is still in use! His passions included auto racing with his sons, golf, euchre, and the Cleveland Indians. Larry was a 39 year member of Sports Car Club of America receiving the Mechanic of the Year award in 2006. He was a member of Maple Grove United Methodist Church. Larry kept a good sense of humor even near the end and we will miss his wit. The family wishes to thank Dr. Tom Sweeney and Dr. John Burgers for Larry's excellent care during his 19-year struggle with prostate cancer as well as hospice and the caring neighbors for their support and good food.
