Dr. Bendixen received his PhD from the University of California, and became a professor with The Ohio State University, where he worked for over 30 years. He traveled the world presenting his scientific research throughout Asia, Australia, Europe, and North and South America. He is survived by three children, Christian Bendixen Haven of Columbus, Ann Margaret Woods of Hayden, Idaho and Sarah Lynn Wilcox of Portland, Oregon; 21 grandchildren, and 51 great-grandchildren, who affectionately call him Grandpa Leo the Friendly Lion.
