Lester Weinberg Obituary
Weinberg, Lester
1923 - 2017
Lester Weinberg, age 94, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2017. Preceded in death by son David. Survived by wife, Barbara, sons, Eric (Jeanne) and Norman; as well as sister, Adele Staller. He had 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Les was a family man. He and Barb recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. His greatest joy came from family gatherings and celebrations, especially cheering on the graduations of all his grandchildren. With relish he passed on many Yiddish sayings, puns, songs and stories. Born in Detroit, Lester learned lasting life lessons working behind the counter in the family grocery store. He was the first in his family to graduate from college. In his work life he succeeded as a professor in his twenties, an engineer in his thirties/ forties and a wealth manager until retirement. Following that, volunteering for SCORE he spent months in Sri Lanka helping to establish their first stock exchange. While living in Columbus Les was active in the Temple Israel community. Retiring to Florida, Lester was always active in his community association when he wasn't tooling around in his golf cart with his visiting grandchildren. We all share the thoughts recently penned by one of his grandchildren: "Grandpa Lester was a generous and kind soul with a huge heart dedicated to his family. He was one of the smartest people I've ever known. We'll miss your stories, jokes and your thought-provoking conversations, but most of all we will just miss YOU". Memorial services will be held at 1 pm on Sunday, November 5 at Wexner Heritage House, 1151 College Ave. Shiva will be observed immediately following the service and on Monday from 1-3PM at Wexner Heritage House. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Zusman Hospice or The www.alz.org Online guestbook at www.epsteinmemorial.com
