Lois Chitty

1930 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
Chitty Lois Chitty, 86, passed away Friday, June 23, 2017. She is survived by her son, Roger Chitty of Beavercreek, Ohio; daughter, Diane Weed of Westerville, Ohio; grandson, Daniel Chitty of Beavercreek; step-grandchildren, Eric (Lizzie) Weed of Milwaukee and Amanda (Joe Frances) Weed of Westerville; great granddaughter, Katia Weed of Milwaukee; sister-in-law, Jane (Bob) Bouza of Hockessin, Delaware; and many extended family members and friends. Lois was born December 17, 1930 at the home of her parents Roy and Ruby (Bowen) Jacobs in Fayette County, Ohio, and attended South Solon schools until the family moved to Greene County. In 1948 she graduated from Jefferson High School in Bowersville. Following graduation, she worked for the Xenia Gazette until she married Lewis Thane Chitty on March 4, 1950. Together they farmed the family farm and raised two children, Roger and Diane. They were married 50 years before Thane's death in 2000. In addition to her parents and husband, Thane, Lois is preceded in death by her son-in-law John Weed and daughter-in-law Susan Chitty. Lois loved to entertain and spend time with family and friends. Her home and heart were always open to all. In seventh grade Diane met and made friends with Cindy (Brown) Trick. Before long Cindy became part of the family and Lois referred to her as her "adopted" daughter. To Lois, Cindy, husband, David, and their sons, Ben and Evan, were family. When Roger married Susan (Shepelak) the Chitty and Shepelak families merged into one. Lois loved being a part of this large extended family and playing grandma to so many little ones. In addition to farming and raising her family, Lois also worked in the business office at Greene Memorial Hospital for 27 years. After retirement, Lois spent much of her time planning, planting and tending to dozens of flowers in and around the yard on the Chitty farm. She also attended just about every one of Dan's games and events. In 2008, Lois gave up farm life and moved into a Beavercreek condo. This is where she lived until shortly before her death. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Thursday June 29, 2017. A celebration of life service will immediately follow visitation at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. Please consider donating to , 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45420 or the Dayton Foundation, Noble Circle Project, P.O. Box 117, West Milton, Ohio 45383, in Lois' memory.
