Louis P. Florio Obituary
Florio Louis P. Florio, son of Louis and Katherine Florio (both deceased), and a native of Columbus, passed away at his home in Madeira Beach, Florida on April 25, 2017. Mr. Florio graduated from Grandview High School in 1944 and went on to play college football at Miami of Ohio. Graduating from college in 1948, he then served two years in the US Army and was deployed to Korea during the war. The majority of his life was spent in Hamilton, Ohio where he began his working career as a teacher and high school football coach. As an educator, he rose to the position of principal at Hamilton High School, retiring in 1987. As a head football coach his teams won over 100 victories at Hamilton High and Hamilton Garfield and was head coach of the South all-stars at the 1967 North-South All-Star Game. Louis and his wife Margery (deceased) are survived by their three children, Jeffrey, James, and Katherine; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Genevieve Mulholland, a Columbus resident. The family will welcome friends at the JOHN QUINT TREBONI FUNERAL HOME, from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, May 12. A burial service will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 13. Donations in Louis' memory can be made to Suncoast Hospice (the hospice.org)
